The Bureau of Land Management will begin rounding up hundreds of wild horses from the mountainous deserts of western Utah on Tuesday, a move the federal agency says is necessary for the health of the land and the wildlife.

Bad news for employees of the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS). RBS has decided to downsize again, and plans to layoff almost 3,500 employees from its technical department and back office division in the United Kingdom.

Kia Motors announced Friday a recall of more than 56,000 Soul and Sorento vehicles sold in the United States and South Korea. The carmaker, an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Company, said defective wiring harnesses in the interior front and rear trim panels could cause fires.The recall includes 2010 and 2011 Kia Soul and Kia Sorento models manufactured between September 2009 and July 2010. Kia will replace the wiring harnesses.

A UPS place carrying two crew members crashed shortly after taking off from the Dubai International Airport on Friday. According to reports, the Boeing 747 went down around noon in an uninhabited area of a Dubai air force base.The cause of the crash was not immediately known. There are conflicting reports on the fate of the two crew members. Bob Lekites, manager of airline and international operations for the United Parcel Service, confirmed a UPS plane headed to Cologne, Germany crashed.

A massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck New Zealand around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. The epicenter of the earthquake was located about 20 miles west of Christchurch on the South Island.Widespread damage and power outages were reported, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or deaths. Local media outlets reported ongoing aftershocks.

Mexican soldiers killed 25 suspected drug dealers in a shootout Thursday in northeast Mexico. The shootout began when anti-drug forces flying over Ciudad Mier spotted armed men in front of a building.
