<summary type="html">The Consumer Product Safety Commission is reportedly investigating claims that Apple Inc.’s popular iPod series can overheat and potentially catch fire.According to several reports the CPSC has received numerous complaints about iPods overheating and causing burns while some have said their iPod has actually caught fire. Apple has called the reports isolated incidents but the CPSC is said to be investigating the claims. There could be a problem with the lithium ion batteries used for the iPod. Both Dell and Apple were forced to recall millions of those batteries in 2006 after their laptop computers began overheating and causing fires. While the CPSC has said they would investigate the claims filed by consumers they have pointed out that the current iPods don’t use the same type of battery that produced those results and burn claims have been relatively small in relation to how many iPod products are actually produced.###Click here for moreScience &amp; TechnologyAbout WooEBWooEB Community is a business, music</summary>

<summary type="html">Google has admitted that the curious outage in a number of their services early Thursday morning was caused by an upgrade error on their part.

According to several reports Google had been attempting to make changes to Internet routing numbers as part of its conversion from an older networking standard to a newer one. While undergoing this process Google experienced a hardware failure which in turn prevented Internet service providers from locating Google’s new routing numbers, thus the shutdown.

The outage lasted for just over an hour and became a hot topic on the Web as many suspected the search giant had been hacked. Google has not been specific regarding what caused the outage but did say they would detail the source of the problem at a later time.

<summary type="html">Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the social networking site will return to its previous terms of service following an outcry from members regarding a new policy that concerned user data.

Changes made to the terms of service stipulated that Facebook could maintain possession of all data uploaded to their site even after a user deleted their profile. While Zuckerberg stated that the move was made to ensure comments or messages sent by a member weren’t deleted when their profile was removed the explanation didn’t sit well with members, many of whom left the popular networking community.

The decision to revert to their previous terms of service was announced by Zuckerberg in a blog post in which he stated, “the past couple of days, we received a lot of questions and comments about the changes and what they mean for people and their information. Based on this feedback, we have decided to return to our previous terms of use while we resolve the issues that people have raised.”

<summary type="html">NASA has decided to delay the launch of its next Mars mission for at least two years due to continued problems with testing and hardware.

Plans to launch the Mars Science Laboratory rover mission in early 2009 were scrapped after it was determined the risk would be too great. According to Charles Elachi, director of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, “Despite exhaustive work in multiple shifts by a dedicated team, the progress in recent weeks has not come fast enough on solving technical challenges and pulling hardware together.”

Elachi continued, “The right and smart course now for a successful mission is to launch in 2011.”

The Mars mission is designed to uncover whether life could ever have existed on the planet. Through the use of a rover that collects samples scientists will be able to gather information about Earth’s closest neighbor.

With the delay an additional $400 million is expected to be added to the cost of the mission.

Making the virus all the more damaging is the fact a computer can become infected just by visiting a site that has the Sinowal code on it. While images of ice had been collected in the past, the Phoenix Lander confirmation is the first time NASA has gained scientific proof of water.

The problem with transferring samples to a lab had hampered the Phoenix Lander’s previous attempts to analyze collected material. With that problem remedied, the Lander was able to collect some dry soil that happened to contain ice and tests proved the waters existence.

NASA landed the Phoenix Lander on June 25 to investigate whether Mars was ever capable of supporting life. Now that its early flaws have been worked out scientists have opted to extend the craft’s stay on the planet for an addition 90 days.

EverySpace, unlike other sites like MapQuest, shows monuments, businesses and streets from ground level. The site allows people to take a virtual tour of a city, scrolling through the urban landscape with the click of a button.
Google Maps has a function that is similar, which is known as Street View. However, EverySpace, a Massachusetts-based start-up,allows users to not only explore a neighborhood but also to go inside shops and restaurants.
EverySpace is not as expansive as others as it focuses on a few major cities. However, users can navigate through those cities' neighborhoods and tourist sites. A special icon next to a building invites users to enter and have a look around.

<summary type="html">NASA’s Phoenix Mars lander has reportedly discovered ice after scientists confirmed that a bright material found on the Martian planet was frozen water.

Phoenix unearthed the material while digging trenches in the planet’s polar region. Pictures were taken of the substance and when the trench was revisited days later the material had disappeared, leaving scientists to conclude the substance had been ice.

The Phoenix Mars lander has been taking soil samples throughout the Martian region in hopes of proving the existence of water and more specifically a habitable climate in the polar region.

Scientists have long theorized that a layer of permafrost lay just below the surface, leaving many to believe that Mars could sustain life.

Several other trenches have been dug by the Phoenix lander which could also add further evidence to the initial findings.
