    <summary type="html">A shooting at Clark County school bus stop has left 6 students wounded. The shooting happened yesterday evening when a group of Mojave High School students got off a school bus in northeastern Las Vegas and were believed to have been arguing about a girl. 

Police believe the shooting was linked to a fight that occurred at the high school earlier that day. Three male students were arrested at the school after police broke up the fight. “At this point, the indicators that we have found….it’s a dispute over a girlfriend,” said Sherriff Doug Gillespie. 

At least two suspects in the shooting were waiting at the stop for the bus to arrive. Four students, at least two boys and one girl, were shot in the arms and legs. All four were treated at a hospital and released. Two other victims, and 18-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, were in serious condition at the hospital. Both has gunshot wounds to the torso. It is unclear if the two boys were on the bus.

    <summary type="html">Three Hayden High School cheerleaders dead and four others were injured Thursday night in a traffic accident near Hayden, AL.
The accident happened shortly after 9 p.m. about 10 miles east of Hayden on Alabama 160. The seven teenagers were cheerleaders at Hayden High. They were returning from gymnastics training in Oneonta when the wreck happened.
The victims were identified as Sarah Casey, Courtney Niceley and Whitney Bradford. All were 17 years old. The injured, all 17, were listed as Sarah Agee, who was taken to St. Vincent's East; and Brittany Lovejoy and Ariel Niblett, who were taken to UAB Hospital. Alexandria Thomas, age 16, was also injured and taken to Children's Hospital where she was listed in good condition. 
Agee was treated and released from St. Vincent East. Lovejoy and Niblett both are listed in fair condition at UAB.
All Hayden High School athletic events have been canceled until the last funeral has been held, school officials said.

    <summary type="html">U.S. News and World Report released their annual America's Best High Schools list Friday. The list will be available on newsstands on December 3 with Thomas Jefferson High School in Fairfax, Va. topping the list.
The survey took into account over 18,000 high schools in 40 states. The top 100 were classified as Gold Medalwith the remaining 405 deemed Silver Medal.
The following 10 states and the District of Columbia did not have sufficient data available for analysis: Alabama, Alaska, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.
Florida had four high schools listed in the top 10, followed by California with three. 
Followed by Thomas Jefferson were Pacific Collegiate Charter School in Santa Cruz, Calif.; International Baccalaureate Program in Bartow, Fla.; Oxford Academy in Cypress, Calif.; and Montpelier High School in Montpelier, Vt. to round out the top five.

    <summary type="html">A 10th-grade student is in surgery after a stabbing incident at Bensalem High School in Pennsylvania that resulted in a lockdown that lasted two hours and 20 minutes.
The student emerged from a first-floor bathroom with a puncture wound froma pair of scissors that were impaled intothe stomach.
The student, whose name was withheld, was taken to Frankford-Torresdale Hospital, where the surgery was administered.
As a result of the lockdown, the school canceled all after-school activities, and buses were delayed up to 30 minutes throughout the district. 
Police were questioning several students in connection with the incident. There are conflicting reports over the gender of the student. 
Bensalem is located 18 miles northeast of Philadelphia.

    <summary type="html">Six Ripon High School Cheerleaders have been suspended after lifting their skirt while dancing to Britney Spears. According to the girls, their parents approved their daring performance after they said they want to end “an awful season” with a spicy cheer routine. 

After flashing their bottoms, which spelled out the schools nickname ‘Indians,’ the girls were told to leave the football field. School officials suspended the girls for two days. 

California District Superintendent Leo Zuber said parents of the students can appeal the suspensions. He confirmed that he has already received one appeal.

    <summary type="html">A teacher was shot outside of Carol City High School in Miami Tuesday. Police are still searching for the gunman.
According to police, two teachers walked off campus to smoke cigarettes when someone approached them and demanded money. When they refused, that person shot one of the teachers in the lower extremities.
The teacher was transported by ambulance to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The injuries were serious, but the teacher was conscious, cognizant and talked to paramedics.
Barbara Hawkins Elementary, Carol City Senior, Middle and Elementary schools were placed on lockdown indefinitely as a precaution.
The identity of the teacher has not been released, but it is said that the victim was a math teacher. 
It is uncertain what happened to the other teacher or if the shooter was a student. 
Police are searching for a shooter near the school and at a nearby apartment. A second person is also being sought.

    <summary type="html">Kelsey Peterson and a 13-year-old boy are believed to be on the run after police began investigating an alleged intimate relationship between the two.
Peterson, a sixth-grade teacher and basketball coach at Lexington Middle School inNebraska, was placed on administrative leave last week. A judge issued an arrest warrant Monday charging her with kidnapping, child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Authorities believed the two were traveling together in Peterson's car and police nationwide were notified about them. Court documents said the boy was last seen Oct. 26.
The boy was a student at the school, but it was not clear if Peterson was his teacher.
In letters, the boy called Peterson his &quot;Baby Gurl,&quot; and said their relationship was &quot;just not about the sex but that it was pretty good,&quot; according to court documents.
Court documents say Peterson's school-issued laptop contained letters to the student, including one from April saying she loved him, thought he loved her, was &quot;100 percent</summary>

    <summary type="html">Holly Hatcher,a Tennessee high school teacher,has been charged with three counts of statutory rape by an authority figure. 
Sheleft the Sumner County Jail Thursday night after posting a $15,000 bond.
Students said she was hired this year as the new volleyball coach at Gallatin High School in Gallatin, TN. 
A Sumner County Schools spokesperson did not release any information about the arrest, but confirmed that Hatcher is under investigation. Hatcher wasn't placed on administrative leave.
She was not arrested at the school.
Police did not release any information about the victim or any details about Hatcher's alleged actions.
Legal sources said the charge usually pertains to cases in which the victim is a student. It also applies if the victim is a minor over whom Hatcher had some other type of supervisory role.
The police department and school district will have a joint news conference Friday morning about the case.

While police refused to give further details, it has been stated the female matron is accused of fondling one pupil and physically assaulting another at the Johannesburg school.
The multi-million-dollar Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls was opened earlier this year at a ceremony presided over by the talk show host and which included celebrities such as singer Mariah Carey and comedian Chris Rock.
Winfrey is reported to have flown to South Africa earlier this month at the start of the internal inquiry and attended an emergency meeting with parents.
The girls aged between 11 and 13 were chosen after an initial 3,500 applications, with Winfrey choosing the final 152 for their academic and leadership qualities as well as their disadvantaged backgrounds.

    <summary type="html">According to the College Board, the average tuition and fees at four-year public colleges rose 6.6 percent this year, forcing more students to increasing their borrowing for an education. Community colleges once again did the best job of maintaining their prices.

In-state students at four-year public schools are paying $6,185 this year, up $381 from last year, according to the nonprofit College Board's annual survey of college costs, released Monday. At four-year private colleges, tuition and fees rose 6.3 percent to $23,712.

The published price is not the real price for many students. On average, accounting for grants and tax breaks, full-time students are actually paying $2,577 this year to attend four-year public universities. That's $209 more than last year.

The net price is still rising much faster than overall inflation. The net price at public universities is $560 higher, in 2007 dollars, than a decade ago. The last five years have seen prices rise 31 percent above the general inflation rate</summary>

    <summary type="html">Janet Dudley-Eshbach, the president of Salisbury University in Maryland,spent yesterday apologizing for two photographs and captions she had onthe social-networking Web site, Facebook.
One of the picturesshowed her brandishing a stick before a Mexican man with a caption saying she had to &quot;beat off the Mexicans because they were constantly flirting with my daughter.&quot; The other photo of a male tapir, a pig-like animal, commented on the animal's ample genitalia. 
She removed her profile Monday after a news station, WBOC, began inquiring about the photos. The station published the photos on their website.
Ironically, Dudley-Eshbach is a specialist in Latin American studies who lists Pablo Neruda, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Jorge Luis Borges among her favorite authors on the school's Web site.     <summary type="html">Classes at the University of Memphis have been cancelled Monday after a football player was fatally shot late Sunday night on the school's campus. 
Taylor Bradford, 21, of Nashville was shot in the chest and pronounced dead a short time later at the Regional Medical Center. The school newspaper, the Daily Helmsman, identified the victim.
Police say the shooting happened on campus near a dorm around 10:15 p.m. According to investigators the victim got into his car after he was shot and drove away. He then hit a tree at Central and Zack Curlin Street.
The victim was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition and later died.
The University of Memphis main campus is closed today and tonight. The Administration building is open as well as the campus school, grades 1 through 6.
Bradford was a junior at the U of M and a defensive lineman for the Tigers football team.
There were no immediate arrests.

    <summary type="html">The three Duke lacrosse players falsely accused of raping a woman at a party in 2006 are now seeking a settlement of nearly $30 million from the city of Durham, North Carolina as well as legal reforms that, had they been in place, would have cleared the men of the charges at a much earlier stage.
As it happened, David Evans, Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann were cast as violent rapists who attacked the woman at a Duke University lacrosse party. Despite pleas of innocent the media, city and much of the nation believed the trio of men to be guilty and elevated racial tension in Durham after the accuser portrayed the rape in violent detail.
At the heart of the case was Durham district attorney Mike Nifong who won indictments against the three despite having DNA evidence that clearly showed the men to be innocent of the charges. 
When it was discovered that Nifong had intentionally withheld evidence that showed the DNA evidence found on the accuser was not that of that of the three men state prosecutors</summary>
