  • Mandantory Health Insurance

According to the Washington Times, legal scholars doubt the constitutionality of a planned mandate that would require all American citizens to carry health insurance or they will have to pay a tax penalty. This would be the first time in history that Congress has forced people to purchase any goods or services. One legal disagreement is that the Constitution does not openly give Congress the authority to enforce mandatory health insurance coverage. Republicans state that the penalties or taxes according to the congressional documents would violate President Obama’s promise to not increase taxes on families with incomes less than $250K. What do you think about making it mandatory for all Americans to carry health insurance?

  • Obama's take on health insurance

Is President Obama re-tracing the footsteps of the former president Bush when it comes to the proposed new care reform? People say that Obama’s prime push for universal healthcare is much like President Bush’s except he is hoping for a different ending, an ending that makes a change. The pressure is on Congress to pass the healthcare reform this year; however surveys have proven that most people are satisfied with their current health insurance. People are more concerned with fixing the economic crisis rather than tweaking a program that they are happy with. The difference between President Bush and President Obama is that Bush presented Congress with a plan, whereas President Obama presented Congress with expansive guidelines and required lawmakers to come up with a bill. What are your thoughts on lawmakers setting the preference for our health insurance?

  • What we want from the reform

What do most US citizens want most from the health care reform: quickness, substantial ways to make health care and health insurance more accessible and affordable without affecting the quality, and finally more individual choice and personalized care. According to some because the President has inaccurately diagnosed the problems with the US health care system, any reformed based solely on his ideas and priorities would exacerbate the current inefficiencies. People would end up paying a lot more for poorer quality fewer access to patient care. Do you agree?

  • Health Insurance and it's Flaws

According to Brain Klepper the Principle of healthcare preformance INC. in Atlantic Beach, Florida the health care system can be imporved if we correct four defects in it structure. The first would be to get rid of lobbying contributions that influence lawmakers to choose special interest over common interest. Next would be to re-empower primary care. Third, publish to the public cost and quality data on Dr’s, hospitals, health insurance, drugs, and treatments so health care can finally operate like a market. This way purchasers will have the information to help them understand value and will favor those who always deliver high quality at a low price. Last would be to stop paying for procedures. Rather than doctors getting paid for every procedure and unnecessary services they get paid for results. Do you agree with these four flaws that need to be corrected?

  • New Health Insurance plan cause premiums to sky rocket

According to House Majority Leader Hoyer the new health care plan will make your health insurance premiums go up almost double over the next 10 years. It will deprive thousands of Americans of insurance coverage and it will send our deficit soaring. According to a recent statement by President Obama if we continue with the health care plan that we currently have and not change anything it will be the same if the health insurance reform fails. Failure to reform health care might be an advantage to some congress members but it would be a disaster for muddle-class families, for the 48 million uninsured citizens and for the small business owners across the US. Do you agree with the House Majority leader?

  • Ways to Save Money in Health Insurance Industry

South Floridians are brainstorming on ways to cut health care costs to submit these ideas to the Obama administration. The health insurance industry has promised to cut costs by $2 trillion over the next ten years, and this will involve a major overhaul in the way things are done now. Some changes may involve allowing terminally ill patients to die in their own homes instead of spending lots of money on intensive care which will have no positive impact. Also, doctors currently tend to perform every conceivable test to avoid lawsuits, although many of these tests may be useless or irrelevant. If there were more protections for doctors against these legal actions, much money would likely be saved. South Florida has long been a particular area of interest as it sees some of the highest health care costs in the country. Eliminating wasteful spending in this area could save the nation as much as $600 billion. What are some ways you can think of to cut down on costs? Read more here

  • Frightening Figures in the Realm of Health Insurance

It has become more common knowledge that there is a major epidemic in this country when it comes to health care. Nearly 50 million Americans are without health insurance and as many as 10 million of them are children. Roughly half a million of these children live in Florida. Sadly, eight of ten children in this group have working parents. Florida's answer for this problem is its KidCare program, available to kids up to the age of 18. KidCare is the umbrella name for Florida's SCHIP (State Childrens Health Insurance Program, funded in part by the federal government) and includes four specific programs. Medicaid for children covers from birth to age 18, MediKids covers from from age 1 to 4, Healthy Kids covers children ages 5 through 18, and Children's Medical Services Network covers from birth to age 19 for children with special medical needs. Florida children will all apply using the same application form and will be placed in to one of the four programs based on a number of qualificat...

  • Horror Stories in Health Insurance

Solantic owner Rick Scott has launched a personal ad campaign against Obama and his proposal for a universal type healthcare system. Scott began airing a series of ads last week on television which tell the tales of people who have suffered as a result of their country's health care system. The horror stories are from Canada and the United Kingdom and site long wait times for surgeries, the inability to get needed medicines, and the many who have had to come to the United States for treatment. Scott is funding the campaign with $5 million of his own dollars, and the reaming $15 million has come from supporters. Democrats are trying to fight back by dredging up fraud charges brought against Scott in the early 90's which led to his dismissal as CEO of Columbia/HCA and his paying $1.7 million in fines. Scott has been unfazed by these attacks, saying he was never convicted of wrongdoing and that other companies were also fined for overbilling. He stands behind his goal of bringing pub...
